Residence is the location where the student is considered to have the most settled and permanent connection, where they intend to live and return to after any absence.

AB 540

Assembly Bill 540 is a law that was passed in 2001 by the California legislature and was recently amended with Assembly Bill 2000 in 2015. The laws were written for students who are either undocumented or U.S. Citizens/Permanent Residents but are considered non-residents for tuition purposes. If these students meet specific requirements, such as attending a California public institution of higher learning, they are able to pay resident fees instead of non-resident fees.

Student Transfer Achievement Reform Act (SB 1440) Information

The STAR Act (Student Transfer Achievement Reform Act/ SB 1440) guarantees that students who earn an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) will receive admission to a CSU campus with junior status.

Major Impaction

San Francisco State University does not have campus level impaction status. The University welcomes all CSU eligible applicants.
