San Francisco State University offers a guaranteed path to a high-quality education with access to financial support, career preparation and an inclusive campus community.

Our current guaranteed admissions program supports veterans and foster youth, with newly announced guaranteed admissions for students from San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) and City College of San Francisco (CCSF). The partnership represents a major expansion of our collective SF Promise initiative.

The new program eliminates the uncertainty of the application process and expands opportunities for students. If you meet the California State University (CSU) admission requirements, your place at SFSU is guaranteed, no uncertainty.

Who Qualifies?

San Francisco Unified School District graduates
City College of San Francisco graduates
Former or current foster youth
Veteran students (GI Bill and other education benefits accepted)

To qualify, you must meet the admission requirements for one of the following:

First-time freshmen:

Graduated (or will graduate) from high school or earned a GED
Completed the required A–G courses with a grade of C or better
Have at least a 2.5 high school GPA in A–G courses taken in grades 10–12 (for California residents)

Transfer students:

Completed at least 60 transferable college units (junior standing)
Have a minimum 2.0 GPA in transferable courses across all institutions attended
Completed the “Golden Four” courses with a C- or better: Oral Communication, Written Communication, Critical Thinking, Math/Quantitative Reasoning
